The Adult Choir of St. Peter Church endeavors to beautify, enhance and promote greater worship of the assembled community by fostering “active participation of the laity” through the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We are firmly committed to upholding the rich traditions of Church choral music throughout history, with a repertoire that runs the gamut from Gregorian Chant to modern compositions.
What is the Adult Choir? The Adult Coir is the “traditional”, or “high mass” choir of St. Peter Church. Under the direction of Anne Simpson and organist Brother Ken Boesch, FSC, the Adult Choir is a choral ensemble that sings in four part harmony. The choir accompanies the 11:30am Mass on a regular basis, Holy Days of Obligation, Feast Days and Solemnities, the Holy Triduum and other liturgical celebrations, such as Confirmation, as well as concerts and events both in the parish and in the larger community.
When does Adult Choir practice? Practice is at 7:15pm every Monday night in the Church choir loft. These practices are necessary for good choral sound, and therefore a requirement for participation in the choir.
When does Adult Choir sing for Mass? 11:30am Mass on Sunday (and various other liturgies throughout the year)
Who can join? Members of our parish community, high school age or older, with a gift for singing, the ability to hold a pitch, and a good sense of rhythm, and previous experience in choirs are welcome additions to our choir.
