FISH was started several years ago with the intention of giving any seminarian interested an opportunity to get away from the seminary periodically and enjoy a little bit of "home away from home". As you know, not all of these young men are able to go home frequently because of the distance involved. The seminarians enjoy the time spent visiting, playing sports/games, sharing a meal (home-cooked or not), and just being involved in "family life". By participating in this program, each family is blessed to form a relationship with young men who are actively discerning God's call for their lives. It also gives families an opportunity to see that these young men, some of whom will be ordained one day, are just ordinary young men. By ordinary, I mean just like their sons, grandsons, nephews, etc. Ordinary young men, taking the extraordinary step of actively discerning their vocation at the seminary. Both seminarians and families will be blessed by this experience and the relationships that are formed.
There will be an orientation meeting for new FISH families on Thursday, September 10, 2015 @ 6:30 P.M. in St. Mary’s Hall. Please contact Melissa Pittman @ 985-264-0640 with any questions.
