As Fr. Otis and Ruth Prats leave on their Roman pilgrimage, we welcome another annual parish event: our Parish Picnic. Following the 11:30am Mass this Sunday, October 18th, we will gather in the field next to the Rectory for games, music, and food. There is no costs involved, just the coming together of community.
There will not be the incentive of actually missing a Saints game (thanks alot, Roger Goodell and your Thursday Night Football), but plenty of reasons are still apparent.
Have we mentioned that Fr. Otis and Ruth are leaving for Rome? Aside from placing a "Closed for Business" sign outside the Rectory, how will things be different around here?
Thanks to the Vatican and its embrace of newfangled technology (a phrase that has never been previously written), we can feel like they're still here with us. Recently the Vatican launched a livestream component to its previously existent Youtube channel, allowing you to even set yourself reminders for upcoming events.
Tune in next Wednesday and digitally find yourself a seat next to our pilgrims at Pope Francis's General Audience. Even sooner: beam down to your computer the Canonization Mass of Blds. Louis and Zelie Martin (St. Therese's parents) this Saturday.

Everybody eats. That's just a fact. We, in our little place on the globe, pride ourselves on how well we do (see above: picnic, annual parish).
What goes into the process is greater than the stock and seafood, though. Touching on the need for hospitality in the food process, Danny Meyer recently offered a few of his secrets. Who is Danny Meyer? Just the highly successful, repeatedly acclaimed restauranteur who has turned his Union Square Hospitality Group into a national sensation.
Listen to him sit down on "Louisiana Eats" with Poppy Tooker to talk hospitality.
*Spoiler Alert* Here are the 5 qualites Meyer looks for in a prospective employee, components of a high HQ (Hospitality Quotient):
Kind
Curious about learning
Work ethic
Empathetic
Self-aware
Integrity
