LAY APOSTOLATE OF THE RETURNING KING
The lay apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King seek to be united to Jesus in their daily work and through their vocations, in order to obtain graces for the conversion of sinners. Through their cooperation with the Holy Spirit, they allow Jesus to flow through them into the world, bringing His Light.
The Lay Apostolate of the Returning King is a monthly prayer group, formed in 2007 at St. Peter Parish, based on messages from heaven given in the form of interior locutions to a married woman with six children living in Ireland called "Anne". These messages come from God the Father, Jesus, Our Blessed Mother and some of the saints.
This prayer group is a fruit of these messages to Anne, calling for the formation of the Lay Apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King. The organization, Direction for Our Times, is a non-profit, specifically formed to publish and spread the writings. Other prayer groups exist throughout Louisiana and indeed throughout the world. Anne's messages are for ALL people everywhere.
WHAT THE APOSTOLATE OFFERS ITS MEMBERS
This ministry is essentially very simple in its requirements but rich in benefits. It offers the members:- a path to personal holiness that is not complicated.
- guidance from Our Lord that makes one accomplished no matter how busy one's day, no matter one's state of life, or state of health.
- one will be useful to the Lord's will. We serve where Christ has placed us.
- the apostolate brings His peace, especially in these troubled times--there is hope for the future and nothing to fear if one is aligned with God.
- the lay apostle appreciates a better understanding how very much God loves us and of God's presence with us every moment.
All lay apostles form a powerful army of souls in answer to the call of our Returning King. Jesus draws graces from the little daily sacrifices and service of the lay apostolate and uses those graces for the conversion of sinners and the good of His Kingdom. Jesus does the hard part--the messages are His---we disseminate and try to live them.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BECOMING A LAY APOSTLE
As Lay Apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King we agree to perform our basic obligations as practicing Catholics. In addition, the following spiritual practices help us be united to Jesus in our daily work and through our vocations, so as to obtain graces for the conversion of sinners:- simple, specific, prescribed daily prayers.
- one hour of Eucharistic Adoration per week.
- participation in a monthly prayer group which includes the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary and reading of Jesus' monthly message.
- monthly confession.
- follow Jesus' example as set out in Scripture treating all with His patience and kindness.
We pledge our allegiance to God, cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and allow Jesus to flow through us into the world. We do all this with the help of our Blessed Mother, the Communion of Saints, the angels and our fellow lay apostles.
SPECIAL NOTE
As this mission is a result of private revelation it is important to know the messages are in conformity with the faith and moral teachings of the Catholic Church. Anne is in complete obedience to her local bishop and works closely with her parish priest and a spiritual director assigned to her by her bishop, Most Rev. Leo O'Reilly, Bishop of Kilmore, Ireland. Nothing she writes is published without his permission and the writings have been submitted to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
MEETING DATES
The Lay Apostolate offers two different times each month to meet. Please attend the one that best fits your schedule:- Second Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM (see parish bulletin on the Sunday immediately prior to meeting date for location of meeting) OR
- Second Thursday of the month immediately after the 8:30 am Mass in Church.
