Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)
In response to God's call "to go out and make disciples", the Office of Religious Education, through Youth Faith Formation, is committed to preparing children, seven years and older, for sacraments that were previously delayed or for full communion into the Catholic Church. The Good News of Jesus Christ is shared through Scripture and teachings of the Catholic Church. Recognizing the importance of the family journeying together, parents are involved fully in the initiation process and are given weekly opportunities to develop their own faith life.
Who is the Rite of Christian Initiation process for?
- Children (7-17 years old) preparing for Baptism
- Baptized children and teens (7-17 years old) in a Christian denomination preparing to become Catholic
- Baptized Catholic children and teens (7-17 years old) in need of First Communion and are at least two years behind in catechetical preparation
